Design Engineer

About the role
The Design Engineer leads the design, development, and continuous improvement of Travis Trailer products throughout their full lifecycle. This role partners with Production, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and customers to create innovative, manufacturable designs that meet customer requirements while optimizing cost, quality, and production efficiency. The Design Engineer develops engineering drawings, CAD models, and bills of materials (BOMs), manages product data within the ERP system, and serves as a technical expert for both internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and clear engineering drawings and bills of material for new and existing products.
- Create custom designs and layout drawings on CAD system as required to customer order or specifications.
- Maintain product BOMs and items in Infor Syteline ERP system.
- Communicate directly with marketing and customers to understand and define their needs.
- Assist Sales with pricing projects.
- Produce technical illustrations for owner’s manuals and bulletins.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Handle all changes and problems related to product design.
- Act as a technical expert for internal and external customers.
- Oversee an entire product’s lifecycle.
- Work with production and quality to investigate ECRs and implement changes as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of design and manufacturing experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of DriveWorks experience.
- Experience with CAD, CAD/CAM design, and manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage complexity.
- Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency and resourcefulness.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift and carry 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Occasionally pull and push 25 lbs. unassisted.
- Repeated reaching overhead.
- Occasionally kneel, stoop, bend, and turn at the waist.
- Occasionally climb ladders above 2 ft.
- Able to wear PPE when working in the production area: safety glasses, steel-toe shoes, etc.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Additional overtime as needed.
