Design Engineer
About the role
The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join various teams within the unit.
Responsibilities
- Prepare contract documents, specifications, and final estimates
- Conduct engineering investigations
- Develop contract plans and working drawings
- Conduct field surveys to assess current conditions
- Compile reports
- Participate in engineering reviews and studies
- Design projects with minimal oversight
Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering
Preferred Skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways)
- Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
- Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices
- Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred)
- Valid driver's license (Required)
- Personal vehicle (Optional)
