Design Engineer
Contract to Hire position based in Charlotte, NC.
About the role
Join a dynamic team as a Design Engineer, developing innovative system components and assembly designs. This hands-on role involves 75% CAD design work and includes prototyping, stress analysis, and ensuring safety and cost-effective solutions. You will oversee the engineering process from design through manufacturing, installation, production, and support, working in a project-driven environment where large conveyor systems are designed, built, and tested on-site. Responsibilities
- Design system components and assemblies with a focus on aesthetics, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct prototyping and stress analysis to ensure design robustness.
- Communicate effectively with vendors to request quotes and approve components.
- Prepare and approve technical drawings and documentation, including bill of materials and revisions.
- Oversee the engineering process from design through to manufacturing, installation, production, and support.
- Engage in hands-on manufacturing of design prototypes.
- Contribute to system engineering, standard design modifications, and installation drawings.
- Provide engineering support during installations and follow-up activities.
- Assist with sales demonstrations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or an Associate's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and measure accurately using a ruler and calipers.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical codes and ability to use hand, power, and machine tools.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

$38.00 - $38.47/hr.
