Design-Build Project Engineer (SE Transportation)
About the role
As a Design-Build Project Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced Design Managers, Project Managers, and technical leaders to help deliver complex transportation infrastructure projects through design-build and other alternative delivery methods. This role provides an outstanding opportunity for a motivated engineer to gain hands-on experience throughout the full project lifecycle, from pursuits and proposals through final design and construction support. You'll become part of a collaborative team where you'll develop technical expertise, strengthen client-facing skills, and build a foundation for future leadership opportunities within Jacobs' growing Design-Build practice.
What You'll Do
- Support the delivery of transportation projects utilizing Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CM/GC, and other alternative delivery methods
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on roadway, bridge, transit, aviation, and other transportation infrastructure projects
- Assist with project planning, technical coordination, and development of engineering deliverables
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery
- Support design development and preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and contract documents
- Assist with project schedule tracking, design milestones, and coordination efforts
- Participate in design reviews, value engineering efforts, and constructability reviews
- Provide construction-phase support, including RFI responses, submittal reviews, shop drawing reviews, field visits, and coordination with construction teams
- Contribute to quality management efforts and help ensure compliance with project requirements and Jacobs quality standards
- Build strong working relationships with clients, project teams, and industry partners while developing your professional and leadership skills
Here's what you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 2-5 years of experience delivering transportation infrastructure projects
- Familiarity or experience working on Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CM/GC, or other alternative delivery projects
- EIT certification
- Experience supporting roadway, bridge, transit, aviation, or municipal transportation projects
- Understanding of transportation design principles, engineering standards, and project delivery processes
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and coordinating technical deliverables
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented project environment
Ideally, You'll Have
- Exposure to DOT projects and transportation agency clients
- Construction support experience or interaction with contractor teams
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or plans to pursue licensure
- Passion for alternative delivery and interest in developing toward future Design Manager or Project Manager roles

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $92,100.00 to $161,200.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
