Derrickhand Workover Rig

Location: Wichita Falls, TX

About the role

The Derrickhand is part of a crew responsible for the maintenance and day‑to‑day operation of service rigs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance of draw works.
• Load and off‑load pipe and assist in rig movement.
• Check snub lines, pull lines, shackles and cable clamps to verify condition.
• Check dies in slips and tongs and all safety and riding belts to verify condition.
• Respond to emergency situations, including hydrogen sulfide detection and major mechanical or structural failures.
• Prepare and set up rig for workover.
• Diagnose well problems.
• Cut and thread pipe.
• Perform service maintenance on rigs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Competent with rig and all equipment.
• Knowledge of types of pipe.
• Ability to latch and unlatch tubing and rods.
• Understanding of how pumping units operate.
• Familiarity with thread types, tubing sizes and rod sizes.
• Experience working with derricks.
