About the role
This position is responsible for assisting in the planning and consistent implementation of the Foundation’s marketing and communication activities that strategically communicate and promote the importance of the Foundation’s mission to a broad audience. This includes developing targeted communication plans, conducting data collection and analysis projects, creating written materials and press releases, and coordinating deliverables with vendors. The role also supports the Deputy Executive Director (DED) and Executive Director (ED) in developing and implementing new communication programs that promote the Foundation’s work.
Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a communication calendar for the Foundation.
- Develops and maintains the DF style guide for communications.
- Assists the DED in managing Dermatology Focus.
- Reviews, edits, and maintains the calendar for updates to the DF website to ensure timeliness, adherence to the DF style guide, and grammatical correctness.
- Plans and creates the DF E-Newsletter.
- Develops an annual social media plan and maintains the DF’s social media presence.
- Develops the Annual Report.
- Assists the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director on all communication-related projects, including corporate proposals and special Board reports.
- Tracks and monitors corporate recognition benefits.
- Assists the DED and ED in reviewing keyboard or committee documents to ensure the highest quality.
- Develops and manages all DF event presentations and speeches (e.g., Annual Meeting Presidential Address, CS Presidential Address, Board Presidential Address).
Requirements
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- A minimum of five years of related professional work experience in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
- 3–5 years of communications experience.
- Understanding of digital marketing concepts and the ability to implement and manage social media presence and websites.
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.
- Some work experience in a non-profit organization or academic setting is preferred.
- Strong project management skills and experience.
- Exceptional technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Highly professional demeanor and the ability to work with top-level individuals.
- Ability to work independently.
