Deputy / Volunteer Probation Officer
About the role
The 18th Judicial District offers volunteer Deputy Probation Officer (DPO) positions. Applications are currently open for these non-paid roles located at 1610 W. Littleton Blvd., Littleton, CO 80120. Hours are Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am-4:00pm and Wednesday from 9:00am-6:00pm. A minimum weekly commitment of one day, four hours, or more, for one year is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervised by Deputy Probation Officer Coordinators
- Mandatory training includes two full days and ongoing hands-on training
- May include learning work-flow and case management practices, meeting with adult clients, assisting probation officers, preparing court documents, managing a small caseload, writing court reports, attending client court hearings, monitoring probation terms and conditions, evaluating client needs, developing community referrals, implementing incentives and sanctions, creating case plans, and working with collections investigators.
- All DPOs must pass a Criminal History Check.
Requirements
A minimum commitment of one day per week, 4 hours (or more) per day, for one year is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old to apply.
Qualifications
Completion of the Deputy Probation Officer Training. Must pass a Criminal History Check.
Skills

Benefits
These positions are unpaid and not eligible for benefits. They may be used to create a Talent Pool open for 10 months after the closing date on a job posting.

Schedule
Monday and Tuesday from 9:00am-4:00pm and Wednesday from 9:00am-6:00pm.
Additional Comments
As a new Deputy Probation Officer, you start as a DPO 1 and have opportunities to move to a DPO 2 and DPO 3 based on your length of service, ability to complete training, and utilization of core skills. You will work closely with DPO Coordinators to guide you through the program. Additional training and networking opportunities will be provided, including participation in coaching and feedback, and Mock Interviewing upon readiness.
