Deputy State Director

Americans for Prosperity is part of the Stand Together philanthropic community. As the Deputy State Director on our South Dakota team you will be instrumental in the work that our team does. We are looking for a passionate leader who will help the South Dakota chapter develop and execute a legislative and grassroots strategy that will reform public policy to open opportunities for all.

Responsibilities

• Work with the State Director to develop and execute legislative, grassroots advocacy, and political engagement strategies to advance AFP's Vision
• Create and implement strategies for building partnerships with like-minded individuals and groups to advance the goals of the state chapter
• Identify and solve problems that will help the chapter drive greater outcomes
• Supervise, coach, and lead team members as the shift the public policy narrative in South Dakota
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to drive the execution of our initiatives and goals

Requirements

• A deep belief in people-empowering, bottom-up, public policy solutions that limit the coercive nature of government and empower individuals to pursue their American Dream
• Strategic planning experience in policy, lobbying, legislative affairs, political engagement, and grassroots advocacy
• Experience connecting individuals and groups to shared a vision and goals
• To be comfortable and confident public speaker and advocate for liberty
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams
• A history of success leading short and long-term projects with multiple stakeholders
• A knowledge of the political, economic, and legislative landscape of South Dakota
• The ability to travel up to 25% of the time, and a valid driver’s license

Benefits

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $80,000-$100,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization. Our Principles-Based Management™ (PBM) compensation philosophy is grounded in an individualized approach that rewards the long-term value each person creates for the organization. Compensation decisions are informed by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, capabilities, demonstrated skills, role responsibilities, and expected contribution. Consistent with this approach, base salary may vary within or outside of the anticipated range based on these considerations.

Pay

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $80,000-$100,000 per year.

Schedule

This role may require up to 25% travel.
