DEPUTY SHERIFF RECRUIT

COUNTY OF FRESNO · Fresno, CA · 1 mo ago
Information TechnologyFull-time
We need to output HTML fragment with sections: About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule as appropriate. Use

for section headings. Use
  • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits, and

for prose. Do NOT repeat job title as heading. Do NOT put Job ID/requisition numbers as headings. Remove boilerplate: EEO, legal, etc. Also remove application instructions, "HOW TO APPLY", "REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS", "SELECTION PROCESS", "REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS", "EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER", etc. Also remove "INTERVIEWS TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 21, 2026" maybe we can include as a note? It's not a section heading; we can put in a

maybe under About the role? But we need to preserve all substantive information. The interview date is substantive; we can include it in a paragraph under About the role or maybe a separate section? There's no explicit instruction to have Interview Date section; we can embed in About the role. We need to include sections only when posting has real, specific content. Let's extract content: Position Description: "The Fresno County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Sheriff Recruit . Incumbents attend a Basic Peace Officers Academy for instruction on law enforcement procedures combined with rigorous physical fitness training; study topics such as the care and use of firearms, weaponless defense, first aid, laws of arrest and evidence, law enforcement techniques and procedures; maintain at least the minimum level of proficiency in all areas of training; and perform non-sworn duties as required. Applicants must be willing to work overtime, if necessary, and shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur. Fresno County is working together for a quality of life for all. Our mission is to provide excellent public services to our diverse community." That's about the role. Samples of Duties: link only, no actual content. So we cannot list duties because not provided. So we may omit Responsibilities section if no specific content. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: link only, no content. So cannot list. Minimum Qualifications: Education, Age, License, notes about enrollment verification, etc. Also notes about failing academy, transition requirements, polygraph, background investigation, medical and psychological exam. That's qualifications. We also have "Notes: Incumbents enrolled in a Basic Police Academy, who fail to successfully complete or maintain minimum levels of proficiency at all levels of training, will be terminated." etc. Thus we can have sections: About the role (prose), Qualifications (maybe Requirements?), Skills? Since no explicit skills list, we could combine qualifications and requirements. The instruction says use headings for section headings (e.g. About the role, Responsibilities, Requirements, Qualifications, Skills, Benefits, Pay, Schedule). So we can choose which to include based on content. We have content for About the role (mission, description). We have content for Qualifications (education, age, license, etc). We have maybe Requirements (willing to work overtime, shifts, etc). That could be under Requirements. We have no explicit Benefits, Pay, Schedule content. There's mention of shifts (nights, weekends, holidays) but that's more about schedule? Could be Schedule section: "Applicants must be willing to work overtime, if necessary, and shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays." That's schedule info. So we could create a Schedule section with that. We have no explicit Pay or Benefits. Thus sections: About the role, Requirements, Qualifications, Schedule. We need to use

    for each heading. Use
    • for any list of duties/requirements/benefits. For Requirements we have list: willing to work overtime, shifts as assigned (nights, weekends, holidays). Also maybe "maintain at least the minimum level of proficiency in all areas of training" is more about qualification? Actually that's part of training requirement. But we can treat as part of Qualifications. For Qualifications we have list: Education (currently enrolled or accepted in Basic Police Academy certified...), Age (at least 20), License (valid class C driver's license, or equivalent; class B may be required). Also notes about enrollment verification, etc. Also notes about failing academy, transition requirements, polygraph, background investigation, medical and psychological exam. Those are more like requirements/conditions. Could be part of Qualifications. We need to preserve ALL substantive information; do not invent or summarize away detail. So we need to include all details. We must not include boilerplate like EEO, legal, etc. Also remove "Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur." That's substantive? It's about eligible list usage; maybe we keep it under About the role. Also "Fresno County is working together for a quality of life for all. Our mission is to provide excellent public services to our diverse community." Keep. Also "Samples of Duties Please click here to review the Samples of Duties." and "Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Please click here to review the Knowledge, Skills and Abilities." Since no actual content, we should not create sections for them because they'd be empty. So we omit. Also "Minimum Qualifications Education: ..." etc. We'll parse. Also "Notes: Incumbents enrolled in a Basic Police Academy, who fail to successfully complete or maintain minimum levels of proficiency at all levels of training, will be terminated. Additionally, permanent status may not be obtained in this classification. Incumbents must transition to Deputy Sheriff I – Court Services or Deputy Sheriff II within three (3) months of completing a Basic Police Academy or separate from County service. Under California Penal Code Section 830.1, the Deputy Sheriff I – Court Services and the Deputy Sheriff II classifications are defined as Peace Officers. Therefore, to transition to either of these classifications, candidates must be able to meet all pre-employment as well as ongoing peace officer status requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. As a condition of employment, candidates must undergo and pass a polygraph or Computer Voice Stress Analysis examination and a thorough background investigation (background materials for failed candidates are retained for three years). Background investigations include employment/credit histories, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified. Candidates must pass a medical and psychological exam prior to transitioning to the permanent Deputy Sheriff II classification." All that is substantive; we need to include. Also "HOW TO APPLY:" etc we drop. Also "REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:" drop. Also "SELECTION PROCESS:" drop. Also "REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:" drop. Also "EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:" drop. Also "Analyst: Mitchell Norvise" maybe drop as metadata? It's not job title/ID but could be considered minor metadata; we can fold into a short

or drop. Probably drop. Now construct HTML. We'll have:

But note we also have schedule info about shifts; we might move that to Schedule section. However we included it in About the role; but we could also keep it there and not have separate Schedule. But we have schedule info; we could still keep it in About the role; but we might also create Schedule section with that sentence. However we must not duplicate content. The instruction: Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. If we put it in About the role, it's preserved. If we also put in Schedule, that would be duplication. Better to keep it in About the role unless we create a Schedule section and remove from About the role. But we need to decide which sections to include. The instruction: Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. So maybe we keep About the role and Qualifications only, and embed schedule and requirements within those. But we have separate Requirements content (willing to work overtime, shifts). Could be part of About the role. However we also have Requirements like "maintain at least the minimum level of proficiency" which is more qualification. Given we have limited distinct sections, we could do About the role and Qualifications only. But we also have notes about enrollment verification etc. That's qualification. Thus we could have:

We have not included Requirements or Schedule separate. The schedule info (overtime, shifts) is in About the role. That's fine. We must not
