About The Opportunity
The Deputy Sheriff - Custodial Intern classification will provide a formal training program for individuals aged 18-25, aiming to prepare them for a career in law enforcement. The program includes training at the Stanislaus County Regional Training Center, covering law enforcement and corrections procedures, physical fitness, and defensive tactics. Successful completion leads to full-time employment as a Deputy Sheriff - Custodial Deputy after age 21.
To learn more about the Sheriff's Office, click here. This program is open to college students to gain experience in corrections, with Stanislaus County covering the Correctional Academy costs. Applicants must maintain a GPA of 2.0 and be enrolled in at least 9 college units.

Education/Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Passing physical and mental ability tests
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
- Valid California Driver's License
- No felony convictions
- Enrolled in a minimum of 9 college units with a GPA of 2.0
- Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification
Desirable Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) months of Explorer, ROP, or criminal justice/law enforcement related experience

- An oral examination is conducted.
- Candidates who pass are placed on an eligible list.
