Join the Future of Rail: The California-based High-Speed Rail program is seeking a visionary leader to join their Executive Operations team. As the Deputy Planning & Engineering Director, you will be at the forefront of one of the most ambitious transportation projects in the world, providing the strategic spark and technical grit needed to deliver a state-of-the-art rail system.

Responsibilities

  • Support program leadership in developing long-term strategic initiatives that directly impact safety, performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Advocate for cutting-edge HSR advancements—from high-tech materials to optimized processes—to ensure our system is world-class.
  • Support the planning, execution, and delivery of critical engineering projects across the entire program life cycle.
  • Dive into program data and operational results to recommend smart adjustments that keep our performance levels peaking.
  • Provide expert guidance on alternative analysis and implementation requirements to ensure every phase of the project is sanctioned for success.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field, backed by 12+ years of heavy-hitting relevant experience.
  • At least 4+ years of experience leading teams and managing high-stakes projects in planning, engineering, or auditing.
  • Extensive experience overseeing complex engineering operations and a deep understanding of infrastructure design.
  • The ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and collaborate effectively across diverse departments.

Qualifications

  • Sector-Specific Success: A proven track record managing public sector projects or working with government agencies.
  • Sustainability Leadership: Deep expertise in environmental compliance and implementing sustainability practices in infrastructure.
  • Systems Integration Mastery: Strong knowledge of systems/network integration and formal certification processes.
  • Technical Tool Proficiency: Mastery of advanced tools like Primavera, Microsoft Project, and engineering design software.
  • Professional Credentials: A PE License or PMP Certification.
