Location: Louisville, KY – Hybrid (minimum three days per week in-office)

About the role

You’ll lead a newly created payroll leadership function within the North American Payroll team, shaping processes, influencing strategy, and delivering visible impact across Canada and the United States. Reporting to a collaborative leadership team, you will manage a group of payroll professionals while remaining hands-on in day-to-day operations to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll. Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations for Canada and the United States
  • Remain actively involved in payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
  • Provide subject-matter expertise on North American payroll legislation, regulations, and best practices
  • Support complex payroll transactions, including share and equity compensation processing
  • Review payroll controls, identify improvement opportunities, and implement process enhancements
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Manage payroll audits, reporting requirements, and compliance-related activities
  • Partner with Human Resources, Finance, Benefits, and other business groups to resolve payroll-related matters
  • Coach and mentor payroll team members, supporting capability development and succession planning
  • Monitor payroll performance metrics and drive operational excellence
  • Support payroll system enhancements and continuous improvement initiatives within ADP and in-house platforms

Requirements

  • Extensive experience managing payroll operations across both Canada and the United States
  • Proven hands-on payroll processing experience with strong end-to-end payroll knowledge
  • Subject-matter expertise in North American payroll legislation, compliance, taxation, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience processing payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees
  • Previous experience using ADP payroll solutions
  • Experience working with in-house payroll systems
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing payroll teams
  • Minimum of 5 years of people management experience
  • American Payroll Association (APA) membership or payroll certification is an asset
  • Experience processing share or equity compensation through payroll is an asset
