Deputy Health Services Director – Finance and Administration

About the Role

Under general direction, plan, organize, manage, and supervise a variety of programs, services, and functions of the Health Services Department. Assist with the development and administration of program budgets and grants. Supervise, train, and evaluate assigned staff. Be responsible for the development and evaluation of programs and services, including those mandated by the State. Establish policies and goals for assigned programs within the general policies and goals of the Health Services Department. Work closely with other management staff to meet agency goals. Serve as a liaison with community, regional, or State agencies.

This is a unique, management-level classification responsible for assisting with the management, supervision, and coordination of functions and services of the Health Services Department. The incumbent assists the Health Services Director with overall management and administration of the department and may serve as the Health Services Director in their absence. This is a discrete, at-will position, meaning the employment relationship may be terminated at any time by either the County of Lake or the employee.

Supervision

Receives administrative direction from the Health Services Director. Manages the work of professional, technical, administrative support, and extra-help staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in health administration, public administration, public health, nursing, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least four (4) years of full-time professional experience working in public health, human services, or a directly related field that included evaluating, administering, and controlling a wide variety of complex programs.
  • At least three (3) years of high-level administrative or management experience in functional areas such as personnel, fiscal, or staff development.

Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted. Relevant experience and/or education may be substituted at a 2 to 1 ratio to fulfill minimum qualifications.
