About the role
The Deputy Head of Sixth Form at this high-achieving secondary school in the London Borough of Enfield is a senior pastoral role with genuine influence over sixth form culture and student development. Close working relationships with the Head of Sixth Form and wider SLTA are structured with mentoring from experienced sixth form leaders.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Head of Sixth Form in managing day-to-day pastoral care across the sixth form
- Making sure students attend, arrive on time, and behave appropriately, addressing issues promptly
- Guiding students through UCAS, university applications, and careers planning
- Coordinating enrichment activities, tutor programs, and sixth form events
- Building trusting relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community
Requirements
- A 2:1 or 1st Class degree from a top 30 UK university
- Previous pastoral, mentoring, or student support experience within a UK school or college, with post-16 experience preferred
Qualifications
The school is looking for a confident, organized, and caring Deputy Head of Sixth Form with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to young people. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Pay and Schedule
Up to £600 per week, pro rata to term time only. Full-time, long-term contract from September 2026 to July 2027. Term-time only. Potential for extended contracts or further leadership development following a successful placement.
