About the role

Responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and leading teams who work closely with all district-managed schools to support them in driving toward excellence in the areas of instructional and student support programs. Areas of responsibility include specialized student services, academics, multilingual education, portfolio management, college and career success, and extended learning.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, implement, and evaluate District programs.
  • Acts on matters delegated by the Superintendent.
  • Oversight for budgetary planning that allocates resources in support of the District’s efforts.
  • Reports to the Superintendent and works collaboratively as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership Team as a values-based organization; achieves Board of Education Ends and goals through our shared commitment to Students First, Integrity, Equity, Collaboration, Accountability and Fun.
  • Plans, assigns and supervises the work performed in the areas of responsibility; ensures compliance with District policy and practices and appropriate federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • The Deputy Superintendent must demonstrate a willingness to sign a confidentiality agreement. This role requires maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding all District matters, especially those involving the Superintendent, Chief of Staff, and the Board of Education.
  • Ensures trust and discretion is paramount to the success and integrity of this position.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • 10+ years of experience and leadership in urban school systems
  • 7+ years management experience

  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.

  • Identifies key issues and relationships relevant to achieving long range goals or vision
  • Ability to manage both high-level processes and monitor completion of the day to day work
  • Strategic planning and organizational development knowledge and skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead high-performing teams
  • Demonstrated experience performing as an effective leader and team player, and recognizing and resolving conflicts or potentially controversial situations through diplomacy
  • Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse people toward common goals
  • Results oriented with a hands-on approach

Pay

$193,207 - $236,641. Click here for more information on compensation for these roles.

Schedule

Standard blackout periods and required attendance, including evening and weekend work includes, but is not limited to the following; district wide professional development, special school or celebration events, Board of Education Meetings, the week before school starts, and the first day of school.
