Deputy Fire Safety Director

As a Deputy Fire Safety Director at CBRE, you will work with management to help plan and coordinate the fire safety operations of a small to medium-sized property. This role is part of the Security and Fire job function, responsible for the physical security and fire safety of the organization or other tangible assets.

Thursday–Monday (Tuesday/Wednesday off), 11:00 PM–7:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the Fire Alarm System and all related equipment; maintain the general condition of the Fire Command Center.
• Generate, file, and distribute accurate incident reports; investigate all incidents.
• Prepare and submit detailed incident reports to Life Safety/Security.
• Review all daily log entries regarding fire prevention and maintain Fire Department Log books as specified by Local Law No. 5 & 26 to ensure proper procedures are followed.
• Train all Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, Searchers, and Building Fire Brigade; manage Fire Wardens/Deputy Wardens sign-in logs and Organization Charts.
• Schedule and conduct all building Fire/EAP drills; direct evacuation procedures.
• Conduct monthly communication testing of the Fire Alarm System with central station.
• Perform semi-annual testing of the Fire Alarm System signaling and initiating devices per code.
• Conduct daily inspections of the building for fire prevention and protection.
• Perform all inspections and testing required by NYC code or company policy.
• Follow all posted orders as assigned.
• Monitor computerized Access Control, CCTV Systems, and respond to intrusion and Hold-Up (Panic) alarms.
• Monitor and respond to the Building Intercom System.
• Remain alert to potential security breaches and provide pertinent information to the Fire Department during emergencies and routine visits/inspections.
• Maintain all Fire Extinguisher systems; conduct monthly Elevator Recall Phase I and Firemen Service Phase II.
• Enforce security and life safety policies, rules, and procedures set forth by Building Management and tenants.
• Process and access tenants and visitors daily, including validating ID cards, recording information on sign-in sheets, and issuing building passes.
• Assist with parking operations, including issuing parking decals, permits, and citations.
• Communicate with the Property Manager regarding events, incidents, and concerns; make suggestions for future situations.
• Review equipment inventories for accuracy.
• Provide safety information and demonstrations on performing work tasks to employees.
• Test all installed fire and life safety systems regularly to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
• Provide criteria on the number or type of fire extinguishers needed in each area.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED with 2–3 years of job-related experience.
• FDNY F89 Fire and Safety Director License.
• Established understanding of work routines and standards; ability to apply skills and knowledge in a range of processes, procedures, and systems.
• Intermediate problem-solving skills with the capacity to review and select solutions from available options without supervisory approval.
• Ability to explain detailed and complicated information clearly and concisely within the team.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills with a robust inquisitive mentality.

Pay

The minimum salary for the Deputy Fire Safety Director position is $60,000 annually (or $28.85 per hour), and the maximum salary is $65,083.20 annually (or $31.29 per hour). The compensation offered will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
