About the Role
The Deputy Director of Fiscal Operations manages and directs all activities of the Fiscal Operations department, ensuring internal controls, providing financial projections, and meeting financial obligations. This role oversees fiscal operations, financial reporting, budget development, and recommends improvements to financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Manages and supervises all aspects of the Fiscal Operations department by providing strategic direction and business objectives.
- Manages and monitors the departmental budget and performance measures, ensuring adequate internal controls.
- Develops budgets, implements budget plans, initiates budget requests, tracks expenditures, prepares forecast projections, and develops corrective action plans.
- Establishes reporting systems, maintains accounting systems, and develops accounting procedures according to rules, regulations, and applicable local, state, and federal guidelines.
- Interfaces with auditors, provides oversight, and leads resolution of outstanding matters related to Fiscal Operations.
Requirements
- Knowledge of budget control methods, fiscal policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to financial operations of Workforce Solutions contracts.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Manual for Grants and Contracts (FMGC).
- Knowledge of effective management techniques and practices, including planning, strategy development, implementation, assessment of outcomes, and accountability.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet software, and general computer skills.
- Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop and update procedures, coordinate accounting operations, interpret laws and regulations, and apply advanced accounting theory.
- Ability to provide strategic direction and establish business objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree from an accredited university or college strongly preferred.
- Eight (8) years of relevant experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
- Work experience in networking, building business relationships, utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, and managing workforce development preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance with a good driving record.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Demands
- Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Subject to standing, sitting, bending, and walking to perform job scope.
- Requires visual acuity, speech, and hearing.
- Primarily office-based environment with occasional driving and travel.
- Flexible hours may be required.
