About the role
The Deputy Director-Economic Development is responsible for overseeing the economic development initiatives of the city, working closely with local businesses and organizations to attract new investments and support existing businesses.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement economic development strategies to attract and retain businesses in the city.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to identify and address community needs that can support business growth.
- Manage and oversee the Economic Development Department’s budget and resources.
- Represent the city at regional and national economic development forums and events.
- Oversee the implementation of economic development programs and initiatives.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in economics, business administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in economic development or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully attracting and retaining businesses.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal economic development policies and incentives.
- Experience with grant writing and securing funding for economic development projects.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
