About the role

The Deputy Court Executive supports the administration and operations of the Pierce County Juvenile Court, ensuring efficient case management and compliance with legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily court operations, including caseflow management, calendaring, and coordination with judicial officers, staff, and external agencies.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to improve court efficiency and service delivery.
  • Manage budget preparation, financial reporting, and resource allocation for the Juvenile Court.
  • Supervise court staff, including hiring, training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Juvenile Court and other county departments, state agencies, community organizations, and the public.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, court rules, and administrative orders.
  • Analyze court data and prepare reports on caseloads, trends, and operational metrics for judicial leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate special projects, initiatives, and system improvements to enhance court services and accessibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in court administration, legal services, or public-sector management.
  • Experience in juvenile justice, family law, or related court systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience preparing reports and presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and court case management software.
  • Knowledge of Washington State court rules, juvenile justice laws, and administrative procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
