About the role
The Augusta Judicial Circuit is seeking a Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney to join the Violent Crimes Unit. This role involves working closely with law enforcement partners to ensure the quality of investigations and prosecutions, leading a team of 60 employees, and making strategic decisions regarding the evaluation, charging, and prosecution of violent crimes in Richmond and Burke Counties.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with law enforcement partners to enhance investigation and prosecution quality.
- Lead a team of 60 employees in evaluating, charging, and prosecuting violent crimes.
- Participate in strategic decision-making regarding the evaluation, charging, and prosecution of violent crimes in Richmond and Burke Counties.
- Start date is flexible between July 6, 2026, and August 31, 2026.
- Salary is competitive with salaries offered in various metro areas and Atlanta.
Requirements
- Must be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia or a bar association eligible for reciprocity for admittance to the State Bar of Georgia.
- Must be admitted to practice before the Georgia Supreme Court and Georgia Court of Appeals.
- At least seven (7) years of experience in trial advocacy, preferably with major felony cases and complex multi-defendant cases.
- Supervisory experience is preferred.
