Position Summary
The Department Secretary is responsible for maintaining an organized work environment, coordinating incoming telephone messages, making outgoing calls as needed, assisting customers, ordering tests and procedures, maintaining post-op data and billing, and maintaining the department payroll. Maintains open communication and is available to component organizations and practitioner sites for consultation.
Core Job Functions
- Promotes cooperation and maintains consistent, open communication within the department and other departments in the System.
- Demonstrates effective time management to promote productivity and cost efficiency.
- Reports issues to Manager and suggests ideas for improvements.
- Demonstrates competence in the use of SPM.
- Logs in and out upon arrival and departure of department.
- Workload is accomplished with minimal errors and practices careful, efficient, and non-wasteful use of supplies.
- Personnel in assigned areas are informed of temporary absence from the department and appropriate relief coverage is arranged as needed for breaks and lunch.
- Uses resources wisely. Eliminates waste. Maintains supply par levels.
