About the Role
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Sciences at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their full-time and part-time lecturer pool. Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring availability on short notice.
Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, renewable contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in the applicant pool during the academic year you apply.
Opportunities for teaching during the Fall (mid-August to late-December), Spring (mid-January to mid-May), and Summer Sessions may be available.
Qualifications
- Graduate degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields. In some cases, a Bachelor’s degree with experience in teaching and coordinating labs may be considered.
- University teaching experience.
- Demonstrated currency in subject matter.

Pay
Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
