The Department of Arts, Culture & Technology (ACT) is an interdisciplinary department that cuts across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The department offers minors and courses in fields including history, political science, literature, sociology, anthropology, philosophy, communications, digital arts, and more. Nearly every Clarkson undergraduate takes Common Experience and elective courses with the ACT Department.
About the Role
The Department of Arts, Culture & Technology at Clarkson University seeks adjunct instructors for the Clarkson Seminar, a 3 credit critical thinking and writing course for first year students. This is an interdisciplinary course focused on exploring big themes from multiple perspectives. Each instructor develops their own themes and chooses their own readings.
Responsibilities
- Develop themes and choose readings for the Clarkson Seminar course
- Teach a 3 credit critical thinking and writing course for first year students
- Collaborate with other faculty members to ensure interdisciplinary coverage of course material
Requirements
- Master’s degree
- Experience teaching in higher education preferred
Qualifications
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- Ability to teach in an interdisciplinary setting
- Passionate about fostering critical thinking and writing skills in first-year students
Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop engaging and thought-provoking course content
- Experience working with diverse student populations
