About the role
As a Department Manager, you’ll lead your team to create an inclusive culture that supports collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit. You’ll ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Customer Sales & Profit
- Ensure the total OMNI customer experience in your store, maintaining visual and commercial curation according to global guidelines.
- Represent yourself and the H&M brand positively during customer interactions.
- Aware of and take responsibility for your department's strengths and commercial opportunities, and act on them.
- Create and analyze sales and budget goals, and develop plans to optimize results and profits.
- Follow up on customer service in all areas of the store and ensure your team has the ability to promote and sell products.
- Manage your department in a cost-efficient way.
- Handle administrative tasks such as transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Ensure correct routines in the fitting room and checkout.
- Fashion & Trend Awareness
- Keep up-to-date with the fashion scene, trends, tendencies, styles, brands, products, competitors, and relevant influencers.
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge as well as other relevant information during customer interactions.
- Team & Development
- Recruit, onboard, and develop your team in-store.
- Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning to support business and team needs.
- Share your knowledge and skills with your team.
- Collaborate with the Visual Merchandiser team and give/receive feedback with your colleagues.
- Plan and schedule your team regularly.
- Communicate with store colleagues daily, weekly, and through relevant training and courses.
- Ensure all procedures, routines, and legal requirements in all areas of the store are followed.
- Participate in relevant onboarding and introduction processes.
- Retail Operations/Visual & Commercial Execution
- Secure a clean and tidy sales floor and back of house including stockroom areas.
- Ensure high fashion quality, visual, and commercial product presentation, with good garment care.
- Manage stock levels and provide input on allocation to the area team.
- Secure the full garment cycle – from delivery to garment presentation – and fitting room routines according to internal standards and routines.
- Utilize all tools and technology provided.
- Update and maintain BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness).
- Secure a strong balance and maintenance of price signs in-store and throughout the sales floor/store.
- Update and upkeep of BOH areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness).

- Maintain a consistent price perception throughout the store.
