About the role

The Lynnwood office is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspections services team. This position involves working on high-profile construction projects in various sectors including transportation, power generation, infrastructure, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety efforts for the team and ensure compliance with safety rules and guidelines.
  • Oversee the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for clients, ensuring proper scoping of services and accurate pricing.
  • Plan and execute the recruitment, selection, training, mentoring, and development of all employees in the department.
  • Work with the office and department leadership teams to prepare and execute the department's annual business plan.
  • Manage key department metrics such as revenue growth, staff chargeability, project billing and collections, and project profitability.
  • Understand and manage project-related risks, and promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Geology or 12 years of related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • A valid driver’s license with an acceptable violation history may be required.
  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise (Professional Engineer preferred).

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a team of over 30 professionals, including Project Managers, Special Inspectors, Technicians, a Lab Manager, and Laboratory personnel.
  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Experience with business development activities, including identifying, developing, winning, and executing project opportunities.
  • Understanding of project risks and ability to mitigate them.
  • Experience promoting continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects.

Pay

Maximum Salary: $180,000
Minimum Salary: $126,000
