About the role
A Department Manager with The Restaurant Store supports the daily operations of a retail location, focusing on sales, marketing, staffing, inventory control, and customer relations under the direction of the Branch Manager.
Responsibilities
- Support the management of a ~30,000 sq. ft. warehouse/retail operation in a business-to-business sales environment and lead operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the location’s daily functions and operational needs; manage customer sales issues and assist the Branch Manager with scheduling.
- Develop and train 15-25 team members to ensure consistent processes and procedures while role-modeling company values.
- Utilize DISC profiling to build a cohesive and high-performing team.
- Maintain accurate inventory control and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Support department managers with daily operations (inventory, merchandising, sales).
- Ensure company standards and procedures are followed, including managing escalated customer/employee complaints, incident reports, and legal actions.
- Support Membership and Gold Membership growth year over year within the local market.
- Promote the growth and utilization of TRS.com across the customer base.
- Manage the overall safety and maintenance needs of the building and equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Work is performed while standing and/or walking, up to and including 9 hours/day.
- Requires effective communication using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires regular use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires regular bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Requires the ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 lbs.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in retail and/or supply chain management overseeing site operations and sales.
- Proficiency in English is required.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience with CRM systems and project management tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical and complex concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt quickly as business needs change; emotional intelligence and diplomacy in difficult situations.
- Service leadership approach with a desire to exceed expectations.
Working Environment
The work environment involves occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. Activities may include exposure to temperature and humidity changes, dust, fumes, and gases. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, with average employee traffic through the work area.
