Department Manager
About the Role
As a Department Manager, you’ll lead and support your team to create an inclusive culture that promotes collaboration and an entrepreneurial spirit. You’ll ensure an excellent operational and visual experience for your store, customers, and colleagues while analyzing sales, identifying opportunities, and optimizing results for profitability.
Responsibilities
- Customer Sales & Profit
- Responsible for the total OMNI customer experience, ensuring visual and commercial curation aligns with global guidelines.
- Represent H&M positively during customer interactions.
- Identify and act on commercial opportunities within your department.
- Establish, analyze, and meet sales and budget goals.
- Ensure high-quality customer service and active product promotion and selling.
- Promote the Customer Loyalty App (Hello Member) and in-store sustainability initiatives.
- Manage your department cost-efficiently.
- Oversee fitting room and checkout routines, including transactions, returns, and exchanges.
- Handle all administrative routines for people and operations correctly.
- Fashion & Trend Awareness
- Stay updated on fashion trends, competitors, and relevant influencers.
- Ensure your team provides product and fashion knowledge during customer interactions.
- Team & Development
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and upskilling of your team.
- Complete performance evaluations and succession planning.
- Share knowledge and skills with your team.
- Collaborate with the in-store Visual Merchandiser team.
- Give and receive feedback to support team development.
- Manage team planning and scheduling.
- Communicate regularly to inform, motivate, and inspire your team through daily and weekly meetings.
- Ensure compliance with all procedures, routines, and legal requirements.
- Participate in relevant onboarding, training, and development programs.
- Retail Operations / Visual & Commercial Execution
- Maintain a clean and tidy sales floor and back-of-house areas, including stockrooms.
- Ensure high fashion quality, visual, and commercial product presentation with proper garment care.
- Manage stock levels and provide input on allocation to the Area team.
- Oversee the full garment cycle—from delivery to presentation—and fitting room routines.
- Maintain in-store OMNI services and technology tools (e.g., Instore Care App, Click & Collect, Smart Store).
- Ensure proper balance and maintenance of price signs according to global and local strategies.
- Update and maintain back-of-house areas for all colleagues (key information, health & safety, tidiness).
- Responsible for daily store opening and closing.

Pay
Expected base salary range is $23.56 - $27.09 hourly.
