About the role

Mayo Clinic is seeking a chair to lead the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic psychiatrists and psychologists provide consulting services for patients referred by their Mayo Clinic physician in support of the integrated care of programs and services.

The chair will provide overall strategic direction and oversee the ongoing performance of the department, be responsible for recruitment and retention of outstanding staff, and ensure the alignment and development of critical resources to achieve goals for each of the three Mayo shields: clinical practice, research, and education.

Mayo Clinic’s tradition of integration requires leaders to facilitate alignment and teamwork across disciplines to ensure the most effective medical treatment and the highest quality of patient care. Mayo leaders must inspire trust by exemplifying the deeply rooted values of the institution and a genuine commitment to serving the common good. Effective Mayo leaders promote collegial dialogue, collaborative problem-solving and consensus-based decision-making to create and achieve shared goals and commitments. They provide an environment that enables people to develop their talents and do their best work, individually and together.

Mayo Clinic is making significant investments in both the physical and technological future of health care, through doubling the size of the Mayo Clinic campus in Phoenix, inclusive of practice, education, and research activities.
