Dental Specialist/Senior Lecturer

Responsibilities

• Teaching and training on the combined platform
• Appropriate training, supervision and general teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Active participation in research relating to clinical, materials and prosthodontic health themes
• Conduct, assist and stimulate research
• Planning and implementing oral and dental education programmes
• Participation in Faculty and departmental community engagement programmes
• Administrative duties related to the post
• Service rendering of patients at both Tygerberg & Mitchell’s Plain sites
• Control and management of clinical services as delegated by the Head of Department
• Maintain satisfactory clinical, professional and ethical standards related to these services
• Maintain necessary discipline over staff under his/her control

Requirements

• An MChD (Prosthodontics) for 3-5 years or an equivalent qualification
• Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Specialist Prosthodontist is a prerequisite
• Demonstrated experience and academic leadership in teaching and learning, research, supervision, and administration, to contribute to the Faculty’s academic objectives
• Experience in supervision of Masters students
• Research and publications record

Qualifications

• For Senior Lecturer: PhD in a relevant field (e.g. Endodontics)
• For Lecturer: Keen interest in teaching and learning, research, supervision and administration, Experience in research
