About the role

Family First Health is seeking a Dental Reception Specialist for our George Street York office. This position is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to learn and grow with a terrific team. As a Dental Reception Specialist, you will play a large role in delivering trustworthy services and care.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with patients and provide excellent customer service
  • Use computer software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office) to perform essential job functions
  • Handle correspondence with attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Perform basic arithmetic for calculations, balancing, reconciling figures, and making change accurately
  • Operate office equipment and demonstrate proficient keyboarding skills
  • Sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems
  • Manage multiple competing tasks with strong organizational skills, follow-up, and follow-through
  • Communicate in a caring and supportive manner with individuals of all backgrounds
  • Work efficiently and accurately in a demanding environment with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of dental terminology
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs
  • High School Diploma or GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Previous work experience in a medical/dental practice is a plus

  • Ability to critically think, understand logical connections between ideas, and evaluate arguments
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Ability to work in and respond to a demanding environment

Physical Demands

  • Frequent and prolonged work at a computer and/or on the phone with repetitive typing, arm, and hand motion
  • Requires correct vision and hearing within normal range
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, or kneeling
  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Frequent turning and reaching
  • Possible travel between work sites, community events, suppliers, and/or outreach with exposure to weather conditions
  • Frequent competing demands, changes, delays, or unexpected events
