This opportunity is for a Dental Lab Technician (Removable) at NDX Continental Dental Laboratory in Phoenix, AZ.

Schedule

Full-time position with regular hours from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Models: Using denture impressions of the patient’s jaw and mouth, create a model based on the prescription sent from the dentist. Pour the impression in dental stone using a vibrator to eliminate bubbles and voids. Place the model in an articulator to represent the jaw and attach the teeth with wax. Shape and carve the wax to resemble gums for the finished dentures.
• Custom Trays: Fabricate a custom impression tray and wax bite rims. Contour the bite rims to provide correct lip support and indicate future incisal edge positions, occlusal plate, vertical dimension, and midline.
• Set up: Arrange teeth in the desired occlusal scheme, ensuring proper form and function. Add wax around the teeth to build correct gingival contours, supporting facial muscles for a natural appearance. Lightly stipple the wax to avoid an unnaturally smooth finish.
• Flasking: Set dentures in a flask, pour plaster to maintain the shape, and melt off the wax in hot water. Inject acrylic into the plaster mold after applying a liquid separator. Remove the plaster mold carefully, clean the acrylic dentures in an ultrasonic bath, and adjust articulation as needed.
• Finish: Trim and polish the denture by cutting excess acrylic and using pumice for a smooth finish.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to complete assigned workload daily.

Skills

• Preparing (box and pour impression material, trim models, set and seal bites, and articulate).
• Set Up (select and set up teeth).
• Wax (wax dentures for try-in and/or finish).
• Processing (invest and boil-out, pack).
• Finish (finish and contour dentures, polish dentures).

Qualifications

• Preferred: High School diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated employment experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Work Environment

• Use of laboratory equipment including grinders, lathes, ovens, burners, steamers, and boiling water.
• Physical requirements include sitting for long periods, working in uncommon postures during fabrication, and continuous maneuvering of hands and fingers while working with small tools.
