About the role
A Dental Hygienist at Riccobene Associates Family Dentistry collaborates with dentists to meet patients' oral health needs. You’ll promote dental health through prophylaxis, oral cancer screenings, periodontal maintenance, charting, and assisting with various office responsibilities while upholding our highest standard of care.
Responsibilities
- Assess dental conditions and patient needs using screening procedures (medical history review, dental charting, perio charting)
- Deliver direct patient care using established dental hygienist procedures
- Take patient vital signs
- Perform routine treatments such as cleaning and polishing
- Take radiographs for diagnostic purposes
- Apply sealants and fluorides
- Maintain electronic records and document patient dental history, chief complaints, and observations
- Educate patients on preventing tooth decay and gum disease through diet and oral home care
- Clean and sterilize instruments
- Complete treatment plans as prescribed by the dentist
- Review and explain treatment plans and fees with patients
- Articulate patient concerns to the dentist
- Serve as primary treatment coordinator
- Perform ancillary duties as needed
Requirements
- Completed dental hygiene certificate program or Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene
- Current Dental Hygienist license for the state of North Carolina
- Ability to demonstrate independent thinking, good judgment, and teamwork
- Initiative, dependability, and promptness
- Attention to detail and flexibility in accepting varied work assignments
- Ability to follow instructions and take responsibility for actions
- Confidentiality with patient information and care
- Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, procedure manuals, correspondence)
- Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Reliable and punctual (operational hours may vary by location)
