Duties And Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission new dental equipment, including dental chairs, delivery systems, lights, compressors, vacuum systems, sterilizers, X-ray units, sensors, and imaging equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to maximize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software-related equipment issues.
- Repair dental equipment in a timely manner while minimizing disruption to patient care.
- Calibrate equipment according to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain service logs, maintenance records, and repair documentation.
- Cookinate warranty repairs and communicate with equipment manufacturers and vendors.
- Maintain an organized inventory of replacement parts, tools, and supplies.
- Train clinical staff on proper equipment operation and basic troubleshooting techniques.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, infection control, radiation safety, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Respond to urgent equipment failures and provide emergency service as needed.
- Travel between dental offices throughout the Austin market and surrounding areas.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Technical certification or vocational training in electronics, biomedical equipment, mechanical systems, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience with dental chairs, compressors, vacuum systems, sterilizers, imaging equipment, and digital radiography is required.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple service requests and work independently.
- Valid Texas driver's license with a clean driving record.
