This position will support the dental clinic, including dental services and preventive dental care to patients seen at One Community Health. The Dental Director will work directly with executive leadership in developing dynamic and efficient dental services. Location: Primarily Midtown – Sacramento, CA (95811) Essential Functions Collaborate with clinical operations and Dental Manager to develop, maintain and implement formal clinic policies and procedures; guide dentists and dental hygienists to deliver consistent standards of care according to policies and assuring clinical practices are of the highest quality. Evaluate the dentists and dental hygienists to ensure performance goals related to production, clinical quality, patient satisfaction, employee satisfaction and regulatory compliance are met.Participate in board and management meetings and annual planning processes to support organizational objectives as directed by CHO.Collaborate with peers throughout the spectrum of care in the organization to promote cross-utilization of services within the context of a Patient Centered Medical HomeCollaborate with the Operations management to ensure smooth operation of clinics and programs including staffing and patient visit ratios and scheduling.Advise on facilities and equipment purchases and repairs.Function as a member of the care team and as such actively collaborates with other clinical and non-clinical staff to ensure care is proactive and coordinated among care providers and care settings. This collaboration includes attendance at daily team huddles, care conferences and training, communication processes including the electronic health record and effective patient communication. Serve as a liaison with the local, state and national dental communityLeads the dental staff in the development and training of educational programs for staff and patients.In conjunction with executive leadership, reviews and, if needed, revises the dental fee schedule.Assists in preparation of the operating budget for the Dental Department and oversees compliance with the Dental Department budget.Provides consultation to the Chief Health Officer regarding dental and oral health operational issues and integration of oral health with primary care and HIV services.Performs periodic evaluations of Dental Department professional providers and staff as directed by One Community Health policies.Supervises, advises, counsels and disciplines all Dental Department professional providers.Participates in Dental Department recruitment/retention activities.Reviews OCH risk management dental policies and procedure manual annually.Performs other related and/or necessary tasks to achieve organizational and programmatic goals and objectives.Performs patient exams, diagnoses dental disease and conditions, evaluates oral health and plans and provides treatment using principles of theories, and practices of dentistry (requirement on average is 50% clinical time).Recommend changes in dental clinical services and collaborate with clinical operations and Dental Manager to improve patient flow, dental record keeping, dental billing and appointment practices.Responsible for compliance of professional dental providers with OSHA standards, HIPAA privacy, and other applicable federal and state laws, regarding the practice of dentistry. Supervisory Responsibilities This position requires oversight of all professional dental activities including activities performed by other Dentists and dental hygienist by One Community Health or temporary agencies.
