About the role
The Dental Assistant position at AltaMed is dedicated to supporting the dental team in delivering high-quality primary care services to patients. This role involves assisting dentists and dental hygienists, sterilizing equipment, managing supplies, and ensuring proper infection control.
Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and dental hygienists in providing dental care services to patients
- Perform sterilization, preparation, and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies
- Ensure proper infection control in all patient-care areas
- Manage patient records and maintain accurate documentation
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act
- Accredited course in dental assisting preferred
- Certified in coronal polishing
- Valid BLS certification or higher
- Valid CA Driver's License (if assigned to Mobile Units)
- Background DOJ/FBI clearance within 30 days of hire (if assigned to Mobile Units)
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited course in dental assisting
- Completion of an accredited course in X-Ray
- Valid CA Driver's License (if assigned to Mobile Units)
- Background DOJ/FBI clearance within 30 days of hire (if assigned to Mobile Units)
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
