About the role

As a Delivery Technician at Accendra Health, you will deliver durable medical equipment to Apria patients in their homes. This role is essential in ensuring patients receive the care and equipment they need beyond traditional healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Pulls, packs, delivers, and picks up medications, supplies, and basic equipment.
  • Instructs patients on the basic use of respiratory therapy equipment, durable medical equipment, oxygen equipment, and other equipment/services approved by state licensure limitations.
  • Loads and unloads durable medical and infusion equipment onto the delivery vehicle.
  • Responds to emergency delivery calls as needed during regular business hours and on an on-call basis.
  • Completes necessary paperwork, including daily delivery logs, pick-up and delivery forms, and vehicle maintenance logs. Distributes paperwork to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains the supply component of patient profiles.
  • Notifies supervisor if any of the following are discovered in the patient's home:
    • Physical abuse of any family member
    • Unsafe home environment for the care ordered (e.g., unsanitary conditions or insufficient food for children)
    • Animals in the home that cause unsanitary conditions
  • May clean and assist with the repair of equipment.
  • Performs routine vehicle maintenance, including checking gasoline, oil fluids, tire pressure, and brakes. Reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma is required.
  • At least one year of related experience is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older at the time of hire.
  • Minimum of three years driving history required.
  • Successful completion of Apria Healthcare's Driver Training Program.
  • Must meet job-related requirements to comply with D.O.T., F.D.A., and standards of accrediting bodies.
  • English language skills (reading, writing, verbal).

Physical Demands

  • Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear.
  • Uses computer and telephone equipment.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly required to read documents, write neatly, and transcribe accurate information and numbers/values.
  • Frequently engages in activities requiring talking and hearing.
  • Requires frequent variations including sitting, walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, or stooping.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license specific to the vehicle operated.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, night (low to limited light) vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Strength Aspects:
    • Frequently stands and lifts objects from 1” to 36” high with weights ranging from 10 lbs to 100 lbs, and carries objects for distances ranging from 1 ft to 350 ft, including travel up and down stairs or in elevators.
    • Frequently pushes or pulls objects weighing from 20 lbs to 60 lbs, up and down stairs, through doorways and thresholds, using dollies or carts, or on flat or angled surfaces (including outdoor surfaces, carpeting, or smooth floors). Distances pushed or pulled range from 1-25 ft on average.
    • Frequently grips objects with hands, up to 15 lbs of force.
    • Frequently grips objects with fingers, up to 10 lbs of force.
  • Body Position and Flexibility Elements:
    • Frequently climbs an average of 100 stairs ranging from 3” to 10” in height.
    • Frequently steps in and out of company vehicles up to 20” in height.
    • Occasionally climbs ladders up to 10’ high.
    • Frequently bends down at the waist to a torso level of 24” above the floor.
    • Frequently reaches, on average, 20” away from the body.
    • Occasionally kneels on one or both knees and squats to perform tasks.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this position is $19.50 - $24.00 hourly. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as experience, skills, education, and location.
