Delivery Helper-2nd Shift

About the role

Helpers assist delivery drivers in moving product from the back of a truck to customer locations. This is a full-time, 5-day-a-week night position averaging about 47 hours per week, with a typical start time of 3:00 PM until finished. The role involves an average of 14-16 stops per night, delivering cold (dairy) and ambient (paper and other) products into stores, some of which may be open during delivery.

Responsibilities

• Assist delivery driver with loading and unloading products up to 50 lbs/23 kg; frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg with assistance.
• Unload product at each stop using a hand truck, including moving and rearranging freight; handle approximately 300 pounds on a hand truck.
• Break down pallets and move product into stores.
• Interact professionally and courteously with customers.
• Read bills of lading, identify product, and collect necessary delivery receipts.
• May assist in providing navigational assistance to the driver.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior customer service experience, interacting directly with customers, required.
• Prior warehouse, dock, or delivery assistance experience preferred.
• Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, and work at the specified location.
• Must complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening.
• This position is designated as safety-sensitive; ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required.
• Must accept responsibility for personal safety and the safety of others.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently move, stand, walk, and sit; use hands to touch, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg; occasionally lift and/or move up to 300 lbs/45 kg.
• Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• Must remember and understand instructions, guidelines, or other information.
• Must be able to see and verbally communicate.

Pay

$21.00 per hour.

Schedule

Night shift, 5 days per week, averaging 47 hours per week. Start time typically 3:00 PM until finished.
