About the role

We are seeking a Deli Clerk to join our team in a retail grocery store environment, where you'll play a crucial role in food preparation and guest service. At Festival Foods, we’re all about making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for our guests, whether they're grabbing a quick lunch, a side dish, a fast food option for dinner, or feeding a crowd.

Responsibilities

• Provide Helpful Service: Deliver excellent guest service with a friendly greeting, answering questions, or addressing concerns—handling each interaction with professionalism and care.
• Guest Assistance: Help guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answer the Deli Department telephone.
• Order Fulfillment: Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
• Customer Service: Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
• Quality Control: Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
• Inventory Management: Maintain proper inventory levels in deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
• Food Safety: Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
• Efficiency: Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
• Honor Commitments: Maintain regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and provide adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
• Support the Team: Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
• Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
• Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment while supporting team members.
• Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
• Food Knowledge: Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
• Full range of upper body motion.
• Ability to work at a fast pace.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Schedule

The Deli Clerk position offers a flexible work schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
