Deli Clerk I

About the role

We are seeking a Deli Clerk to join our team in our retail grocery store environment, where you'll play a crucial role in food preparation and guest service. At Festival Foods, we’re all about making mealtime easier and more enjoyable for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Provide Helpful Service: Providing excellent guest service is at the heart of what we do.
• Guest Assistance: Help guests locate items on or off the sales floor and professionally answer the Deli Department telephone.
• Order Fulfillment: Receive, prepare, and fulfill guest orders and special requests with attention to detail and quality.
• Customer Service: Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly using the boomerang principle to ensure a positive experience.
• Quality Control: Inspect, rotate, maintain proper temperatures, and replenish all deli products on display to ensure high standards.
• Inventory Management: Maintain proper inventory levels in the deli storage, including containers, lids, spoons, tags, and more.
• Food Safety: Lead by example in maintaining food safety logs and adhering to all safety standards.
• Efficiency: Ensure all quality standards, including quantity expectations, are met by 10 am and 5 pm daily.
• Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
• Support the Team: Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Customer Focus: Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and all personnel.
• Communication Skills: Good oral and written communication skills.
• Effective Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly assess and resolve issues in a dynamic and stressful work environment, while supporting team members.
• Safety Awareness: Comprehensive understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies, including proper training on slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactors, and balers.
• Food Knowledge: Knowledge of the retail food business, perishable department operations, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Full range of upper body motion. Ability to work at a fast pace. May be exposed to extreme temperatures.

Schedule

The Deli Clerk is a position with a flexible work schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
