Job Summary

Slices, packages, weighs, and sells various deli products, including meats and cheeses. Maintains the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including deli display cases, and provides assistance to Members in the deli department.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service to Members; answer questions, recommend deli items, take calls and special orders.
• Slice, package, and weigh deli products (meats, cheeses, etc.) and help Members select the correct products.
• Sample products to assist purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments; display, stock, rotate, and store products following food safety and freshness policies.
• Check for out‑of‑date products daily and follow product salvage procedures.
• Ensure deli cooler shelves and display cases have a wide variety of product; stock and rotate items as needed.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies; clean and sanitize equipment and food surfaces, including rotisserie ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, and the deli cooler.
• Maintain scale systems in working order and ensure items are weighed and priced accurately.
• Uphold all club policies and procedures; perform other duties as assigned, including work in other departments.
• Maintain a friendly, positive attitude and deliver service excellence through all points of contact.
• Follow GOLD Member Standards: Greet, Anticipate, Appreciate (GAA); Fast, Friendly; Full, Fresh, Clean.
• Maintain visible, accurate signage; keep the area clean and organized; understand production and financial performance reporting for the department.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.

Qualifications

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

Job Conditions

Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces, with occasional bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting objects up to 30 lb (heavier items may require assistance). The environment is indoor with frequent exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers, as well as cleaning agents.

Pay

The estimated compensation range for this position starts at $16.75 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
