Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general deck duties including maintenance, cleaning, painting, and preservation of vessel surfaces.
- Aid with cargo handling by attaching slings, hooks, and lifting devices and signaling crane or deck operators.
- Load and unload equipment and supplies using manual labor or hoisting equipment.
- Maintain deck equipment including rigging, lines, winches, and cargo-handling gear.
- Sweep, wash, and maintain deck areas and interior spaces of the vessel.
- Aid with docking operations including securing and releasing mooring lines.
- Stand lookout and assist with navigation watch as directed.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks including lubrication and minor repairs to deck equipment.
- Aid with emergency response including firefighting, launching survival craft, and providing first aid when required.
- Support vessel housekeeping including living quarters sanitation and laundry duties.

Deckhands Must Actively Participate In Safety Initiatives Including Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO) Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Permit to Work (PTW) Pre-Job Safety Meetings Near-Miss Reporting Proper use and maintenance of PPE Safety leadership and compliance with all HSE policies are required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- MUST have a Valid Driver's License
- TWIC Card required
- Ability to obtain U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (Z-Card) within 60 days of employment
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Ability to work offshore rotations
- Ability to travel via helicopter or crew boat
- Ability to work in a physically demanding offshore environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior offshore or maritime experience
- Crane certification or ability to obtain
- Knowledge of deck equipment and rigging
- Ability to splice rope and cable
Physical Requirements
- This Position Requires The Ability To Frequently lift up to 50 lbs and occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Climb stairs, ladders, and elevated structures
- Work in outdoor offshore conditions including heat, cold, wind, and noise
- Perform bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and climbing
