About the Role

We seek a visionary and experienced Dean of Students to join our institution. In this pivotal role, you will help guide students through their academic career, resolve student concerns, and ensure the highest standards of educational excellence are upheld across all programs. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of our institution.

Responsibilities

Student Retention and Satisfaction

  • Ensure all programs exceed the minimum accreditation (NACCAS 50% or COE 60%) benchmark completion annually.
  • Ensure all programs exceed a minimum of 70% exam pass rate annually, with 90% of graduates successfully passing exams (where applicable).
  • Conduct Welcome to Milan Pre-Start Orientation with enthusiasm, excitement, and passion, following company guidelines.
  • Lead New Student Orientation for Allied Health programs and Cosmetology/Barber programs.
  • Partner with Career Services regarding any student issues or concerns prior to and during externship; students remain Education’s responsibility through externship.
  • Ensure classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and breakrooms are clean and “customer-friendly.”
  • Resolve student requests and concerns within 24-48 hours.
  • Consistently update the Complaint Log per company guidelines.
  • Guide and oversee the Gold Team following policy guidelines.
  • Assist students with requesting:
    • Leave of Absence (LOA) if no other options are available to continue in the program (submit completed documentation to the campus Dean of Faculty or Director).
    • A session change and submit documentation to staff, communicating with faculty regarding this change.
    • Withdrawal from the program if no other options are available.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Train with the Compliance Team and Registrar Team to follow key policies and procedures.
  • Participate and contribute to campus staff and management meetings.
  • Participate and contribute to the campus Retention Meeting; follow up with students after the Retention Meeting to ensure they focus on meeting the expectations of Student Satisfactory Progress (SAP).
  • Partner with the Campus Director to execute:
    • COE Occupational Advisory Committee Meetings (one per year).
    • Institutional Advisory Committee Meeting (one per year).
    • NACCAS Advisory Board Meeting (one per year).
  • Prepare and submit the monthly Exam Pass Rate Results Spreadsheet per the required distribution schedule.
  • Consistently execute Compliance and Education policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update the Community Resources Binder to provide immediate suggestions and support to students.
  • Cooperate with all departments to ensure transparency and effective communication.
  • Update and post documents, including the Complaint Log, at least quarterly.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in academic administration or instructional capacity, preferably at a post-secondary educational institution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey information clearly and effectively to students.
  • Passion for student success and a genuine interest in seeing students thrive.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently.
  • Customer service focus with a commitment to exceeding student expectations.
  • Successful experience de-escalating situations with a strong focus on conflict resolution.
  • Integrity and adherence to ethical principles and professional standards in all actions and decisions.
  • Alignment with the institution's core values: accountability, integrity, growth, service, and communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) for report generation, email communication, and spreadsheet management.
  • Ability to work independently and make consistent decisions based on precedent, policy, and guidelines.
  • Outstanding problem-solving abilities.
  • Punctual and reliable; ability to work both day and evening hours to support all students in all programs.
