Dean of Nursing

About the Role

Responsible for the site supervision, development, planning, coordination, organization, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing program activities. This includes overseeing all aspects of the program such as budget, faculty and staff, clinical site liaison, curriculum development, program compliance, student advocacy, and policy management.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, manage, update, and evaluate all aspects of the RN program, including budget, faculty, staff, and clinical site liaison.
• Oversee curriculum development and implementation, ensuring compliance with Board rules and regulations.
• Act as a student advocate and develop program policies, procedures, faculty, and student handbooks.
• Prepare data and written materials for state and Board requirements, including reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits.
• Maintain student and faculty records, working with Human Resources to document qualifications.
• Identify and obtain outside resources for the nursing program.
• Organize and serve on program committees, overseeing the admission process and orientation.
• Write articulation agreements with nearby colleges for transferring into nursing programs.
• Serve as a liaison between the community and the college.
• Develop and maintain educational partnerships and contracts with clinical sites.
• Perform clinical site evaluations, assessing risk, hazards, safety, and staffing to meet clinical objectives.
• Coordinate with clinical faculty or agency representatives to confirm student assignments, rotations, and objectives.
• Ensure evaluations by students, clinical sites, and faculty are completed and reported.
• Maintain minutes of inter-agency meetings and participate in nursing faculty recruitment, hiring, and orientation.
• Conduct regular nursing faculty meetings and maintain records of meetings.
• Participate in conflict resolution for faculty and students.
• Initiate and maintain community relationships, advocating for and marketing the programs.
• Monitor quality of instruction and participate in faculty and program review, evaluation, and strategic planning.
• Maintain membership and participate in professional associations.
• Interact with other college entities as a representative of nursing interests (e.g., counseling, registration, financial aid).
• Provide advising support, degree planning, and academic assistance to students.
• Ensure students are oriented to nursing skills labs and clinical facilities.
• Manage student appeals and grievances per policy.
• Participate in the recruitment and admission of qualified nursing students.
• Advise and support nursing students academically.
• Ensure students meet requirements for graduation and licensing exams.
• Conduct Nursing Advisory Committee meetings.
• Accept other duties to ensure consistency and meet the needs of students and programs.

Requirements

• Must hold a current RN license in the state where the campus is located.
• A master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university that includes coursework in nursing, education, or administration.
• A minimum of two years of experience in an administrative position.
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs.
• At least two years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the Board.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Pay

Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000.
