Dean of Nursing

About the role

The Dean of Nursing at Arizona College of Nursing oversees the nursing faculty, clinical coordinator, and director of simulation. They collaborate with the Executive Director of Academic Operations and campus leadership to make decisions and ensure the College's vision, mission, and values guide actions.

Responsibilities

• Makes sure nursing program complies with State Board of Nursing requirements and submits required reports.
• Notifies the Board of any significant changes.
• Represents the nursing program at meetings of appropriate bodies.
• Prompts annual and required reports and data for the Board.
• Manages direct reports through 11s, Quarterly Check-Ins, Performance Management, and Training and Development.
• Prompts the hiring process for faculty, including adjunct and full-time.
• Serves as liaison to ATI for scheduling of live reviews and services.
• Facilitates textbook and media selection process.
• Ensures appropriate and meaningful faculty development and mentoring resources.
• Prepares and manages the Core Nursing Orientation for Level 5 students.
• Provides advisement for students; resolves student problems.
• Coordinates activities related to student admission, retention, progression, and graduation.
• Serves as chair of nursing faculty meetings and ex-officio member of nursing program committees.
• Serves on committees such as BSN Curriculum Committee, Community Advisory Council, and Academic Affairs Committee.
• Chairs monthly meetings of the nursing faculty and general education faculty meetings in the absence of a DOGE.
• Reviews and addresses findings for end-of-course evaluations.
• Collaborates with the Dean of General Education to ensure appropriate alignment of the liberal arts and nursing curricula.
• Works with the Nursing Lab Manager to ensure the labs are properly maintained and meet standards.
• Develops faculty workload schedules, ensuring office hours are held, committee service is fulfilled, and full-time faculty are scheduled 36 credit hours annually based on the Fiscal Year.
• Resolves conflicts effectively.
• Maintains records relevant to the program.

Requirements

Doctorate required
Five years’ combined teaching experience and experience in curriculum development and administration
Current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhanced compact nurse licensure relevant to the state of teaching location.
