About the role
The Dean of Nursing & Administrator serves as the nurse leader for the nursing program at Rasmussen University's Brandon, FL campus. This role involves leading, implementing, and maintaining learning and teaching strategies and initiatives that align with the School of Nursing's vision and direction. Key responsibilities include recruiting, supervising, and developing faculty, overseeing faculty evaluations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Nursing Program Governance: Supports the mission and purpose of the nursing education unit, ensuring end-of-program student learning outcomes and program outcomes are met.
- Hiring, Managing, and Developing Faculty: Recruits, supervises, develops, and directs a professional staff, including full-time and adjunct faculty, to ensure curricula are current and consistently delivered.
- Faculty Observations and Coaching: Conducts faculty observations, coaching, mentoring, and evaluations, and oversees onboarding and nursing orientation of new faculty.
- Work Assignments: Organizes and schedules faculty and staff work assignments, participates in the budgeting process, and attends meetings as designated.
- Communication and Relationships: Facilitates positive communication and develops collegial relationships with students, faculty, staff, and clinical partners to promote positive learning environments.
- Performance Standards: Maintains high-performance standards for self and holds accountability for achieving results, adhering to institutional, governmental, and accreditation policies.
- Student Support: Provides advising/counseling to nursing students, processes SAP appeals, and ensures appropriate resources are available for students.
- Reporting Relationships: Reports to the Area Dean of Nursing and leads a team of campus nursing faculty and other nursing personnel.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution, with a Doctoral degree desirable.
- An active, unencumbered RN license in the state where the assigned campus is located.
- A minimum of 2+ years of full-time teaching experience in a nursing program within the last five years.
- 3-5 years of leadership/management experience in an academic or clinical setting, with curriculum development and/or accreditation experience a plus.
- 2+ years full-time or equivalent direct care experience as a practicing nurse.
- Demonstrated track record of organizational/team/individual development.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with others in a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, emphasizing Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to establish and maintain open lines of communication with faculty, students, and campus personnel.
- Self-motivated, flexible, patient, goal-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Qualifications
Qualifications include a Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution, an active, unencumbered RN license, 2+ years of full-time teaching experience, 3-5 years of leadership/management experience, 2+ years of full-time or equivalent direct care experience, and demonstrated organizational/team/individual development skills.
