About the role

Seagull Student Services is seeking an experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Special Education Teacher to join their team in Alaska. The position offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the region's natural beauty and adventurous spirit.

Responsibilities

• Teach students with hearing impairments in various settings
• Manage large caseloads with diverse student needs
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and community members
• Facilitate challenging/mediated IEP meetings
• Deliver SPED professional development
• Ensure compliance with AK state SPED legal and procedural requirements
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or special education (minimum 30 college credits in special education)
• Valid Alaska teaching certificate with a Hearing Impaired endorsement, or ability to obtain upon hire
• Recent experience managing large caseloads with a variety of exceptions
• Flexible and adaptable to diverse student needs
• Knowledge of current best practices in special education
• Ability to manage challenging behaviors and facilitate effective IEP meetings
• Excellent interpersonal skills

Pay

Seagull offers W2 or 1099 hourly rates.

Schedule

The position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.
