About the role
Seagull Student Services is seeking an experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Special Education Teacher to join their team in Alaska. The position offers a unique opportunity to enjoy the region's natural beauty and adventurous spirit.
Responsibilities
- Teach students with hearing impairments in various settings
- Manage large caseloads with diverse student needs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and community members
- Facilitate challenging/mediated IEP meetings
- Deliver SPED professional development
- Ensure compliance with AK state SPED legal and procedural requirements
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or special education (minimum 30 college credits in special education)
- Valid Alaska teaching certificate with a Hearing Impaired endorsement, or ability to obtain upon hire
- Recent experience managing large caseloads with a variety of exceptions
- Flexible and adaptable to diverse student needs
- Knowledge of current best practices in special education
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors and facilitate effective IEP meetings
- Excellent interpersonal skills

Pay
Seagull offers W2 or 1099 hourly rates.
Schedule
The position is full-time at 37.5 hours per week.
