DCS CASE MANAGER 3 - SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT - TN VALLEY & MIDSTATE REGIONS - 09022026-80709

About the role

This is a DCS Case Manager 3 position for the Special Investigations Unit in the Central Office Quality Compliance division. This position is currently located in Grundy County but can potentially sit in any of the following counties: Bedford, Coffee, Franklin, Grundy, Lincoln, Marion, Marshall, Moore, Shelby, or Tullahoma. This position requires a criminal background check; you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered.

Responsibilities

• Mentor less-experienced case management staff by providing guidance and suggestions for difficult or multi-faceted cases.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary teams including Child Protective Services Investigative Team, Foster Care Review Board, and Community Advisory Board to inform case planning decisions.
• Determine if abuse or neglect has occurred, identify the abuser, assess the level of risk or harm to the child, determine the need for a safety plan, and make recommendations regarding permanency or termination of parental rights.
• Monitor adoptive and foster families, recruit foster parents, conduct home visits, and coordinate or observe visitations.
• Maintain documentation for case files and other required records; prepare for, participate in, and testify in court proceedings.
• Conduct interviews with alleged child victims, reporters, family members, and collateral contacts; gather information such as school records, demographic data, medical/psychological records, and conduct required assessments of home.
• Conduct face-to-face visits with children, resource families, providers, kinship homes, and other relevant entities.
• Work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and after-hours; schedule appointments and meetings; transport children safely to appointments; assist children in preparing for placement and sit with children awaiting placement.
• Communicate effectively and timely with children, families, providers, coworkers, and supervision; build trustful relationships; explain parental rights and other documents to families; respond promptly to inquiries.
• Convene Child and Family Team Meetings; identify members and collaborate to develop action steps and goals.
• Make referrals to service providers on behalf of clients; collaborate with law enforcement and multi-disciplinary teams; train foster and adoptive parents and community members.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of full-time professional experience providing child welfare services, including one or a combination of the following: social, psychological, or correctional counseling or case management; volunteer services coordination for a children’s service program; and/or juvenile classification coordination.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application.
• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license prior to and during employment.
• Must have a good moral character, as determined by investigation.
• Must complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority.
• Must have no conviction for a felony.
• Must agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority.
• Must supply a fingerprint sample for a fingerprint-based criminal history records check.
• Must submit to and pass a pre-employment screening test for use of illegal drugs.
• Must meet Tennessee driver qualifications: a valid driver’s license and, for the past five years, no record of DUI, reckless driving, license suspension for moving violations, or more than four moving violations.

Pay

$4,178.00 – $5,212.00 per month; $50,136.00 – $62,544.00 per year.
