DC Team Member II - 2nd Shift

About the Role

The DC Team Member II is responsible for determining daily work schedules via work board instructions and receiving directions from Lead Team Member and Supervisor. Key duties include filling and completing customer orders, combining orders with the same ship identification numbers, performing 6S activities, and assisting DC Team Member I as needed. This role requires proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) via desktop or RF gun, including troubleshooting transactions. Licensing and proficiency in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, order pickers, and ride-on pallet jacks are essential.

Responsibilities

• Daily Schedule:
  • Perform daily tasks as identified by the work board and directions from Lead Team Member and Supervisor.
  • Work overtime as scheduled.
• Equipment:
  • Perform equipment inspections and complete proper documentation before operating any equipment.
  • Report defects or damage to supervisor immediately.
  • Operate PI equipment safely, including:
    • Order picker.
    • Pallet Jack (Short and Long).
    • Counterbalance (Stand Up and Sit Down).
• Picking and Packing:
  • Pick inventory and place in containers; transport to packing lanes.
  • Verify quantity matches scanner instructions; move product into final shipping container.
  • Label containers to create final shipping units; confirm into Viad@t.
  • Transport orders to designated shipping areas, ensuring accuracy and efficiency per company guidelines.
  • Scan and pick coils and fittings using an order picker according to customer orders.
  • Pick and label straight lengths; transport to shipping docks using a forklift.
  • Assist with packaging materials for shipping according to specified instructions or customer requirements.
  • Ensure all product and shipping labels are legible and accurate.
  • Manually load coils and bundles onto trucks for shipping based on computer-generated work orders or verbal instructions.
• Monitoring Logistics Quality:
  • Facility and Equipment Care: Maintain facility and equipment checklists; perform cleanliness and 6S functions; conduct forklift inspections prior to operation.
  • Proactive Damage Control: Work toward error-proofing by recognizing and addressing potential problems; communicate with supervisors to eliminate future issues.
  • Pallet Quality: Ensure pallets are stable, accurately labeled, and damage-free; transport pallets safely.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Maintain accurate inventory levels; resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Focus on individual quality improvement to ensure orders are correct, on time, and as requested.
  • Work with the leadership team to create personal improvement plans for process or quality issues.
  • Contribute to process changes in response to customer errors.
  • Correct and record technical errors from manufacturing and vendors.
  • Support ISO9001 quality initiatives.
• Cleaning and Area Upkeep:
  • Maintain a clean work environment; perform 6S activities (sort, straighten, shine, standardize, sustain, and safety) to organize the distribution center.
• Other Duties:
  • Answer questions and assist DC Team Member I as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • May be required to travel up to 10% of the time.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or a combination of education and work experience.
• 6–17 months of related experience.
• Warehouse Management Systems experience preferred.
• Lean experience preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
