DC Maintenance Specialist III

Compensation pay range: $37.25 - $41.25 per hour. Additional compensation may include annual or quarterly performance premiums, schedule-based premiums, facility-based premiums, seasonal premiums, or premiums for specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

About the role

Ensures all facilities and grounds are maintained to promote maximum productivity of distribution center operations. Responsible for the highest level of repair in one or more maintenance disciplines (electrical, mechanical, etc.). In some distribution centers, this position may include supervisory responsibility for other maintenance staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and repair of all facilities and grounds systems, including structural components, electrical work, plumbing, roofing repairs, carpentry, painting, welding, and parking lot maintenance.
• Ensure ongoing preventative maintenance for all operational systems in the distribution center, including HVAC, electrical units, lighting, roofing, generators, parking lots, fans, restrooms, and other plumbing systems.
• Monitor repair and maintenance activities to ensure cost-effective and functional use of resources, including manpower, equipment, supplies, and hardware/software.
• Recommend innovative and cost-saving ideas to improve facilities and grounds usage.
• Manage bidding and procurement of facilities maintenance supplies and equipment, track purchase orders, receivables, and invoicing.
• Supervise contracted work after approval through the standard bidding process and management review.
• Oversee onsite supervision of construction projects, including remodels and new construction.
• Construct distribution center-related equipment, such as picking carts, mailboxes, and tote hooks.
• Collaborate with distribution center management, including the Safety Manager (if applicable), to meet OSHA and other regulatory compliance requirements.
• Communicate facilities maintenance issues or projects with distribution center management.
• Provide after-hours assistance during emergencies or inclement weather, serving as a first responder for snow removal needs.
• Serve as a trainer for team members with experience, ensuring training is conducted on schedule and documentation is complete. Trainers explain job duties, functions, and procedural changes to new and existing team members.
• Maintain safety standards while operating and identify unsafe practices or situations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience in management or high-level responsibility for facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) (desired).
• Certification or journeyman status in one or more trades (desired).
• College or technical degree in Facilities Management, Maintenance, Construction, or Real Estate building trade (desired).
• Fluency in multiple languages, with Spanish highly desired.
