Responsibilities
- Organize and execute the distribution center’s workload by shift to ensure on-time, in-full completion of all orders to customers.
- Recognize, recommend, and implement ways to delegate work, leverage manpower, maximize efficiency, and resolve/troubleshoot problems to maintain productivity during peak and non-peak packing timeframes.
- Coordinate with management when issues require escalation for resolution.
- Monitor the shift’s operations, including inbound, outbound, tint specials, replenishment, and review daily performance reports in compliance with KPI Metrics.
- Review and resolve shipping errors and develop strategies to minimize them.
- Utilize 5S and Continuous Improvement methodology to identify, implement, and sustain process improvements.
- Oversee quality and cleanliness of work areas and equipment based on warehouse checklist; ensure all equipment (e.g., RF scanners, MHE) is accounted for daily.
- Assist in the development and employee training on standard work instructions (SWI).
- Facilitate daily Gemba walks, stand-up meetings, and shift change meetings.
- Open and close the facility daily as required.
- Assist site management with employee-related issues, such as job assignments, time-off requests, and resolving minor disputes; escalate issues as needed.
- Provide input for performance evaluations and partner with management to deliver timely mid-year and year-end reviews.
- Document and communicate performance/attendance infractions for corrective action, recommending appropriate measures.
- Participate in interviews and conduct site tours for job applicants; assist in onboarding new hires.
- Partner with other department leads to cross-train employees for versatility and flexibility across the distribution center.
- Engage with team members to gather feedback on improving efficiencies, performance, or work environment.
- Follow and administer all safety, environmental, and regulatory guidelines for the assigned shift; ensure the use of required safety equipment and PPE.
- Promptly address safety issues and reinforce safety expectations with the team.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal DOT regulations.
- Report near misses in a timely manner into Intelex.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School degree required or equivalent; an associate degree is preferred.
- Experience in a dynamic distribution environment.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated computer skills, including working knowledge of WMS and aptitude for new electronic information systems.
- Competency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and SAP.
- Ability to operate motorized material handling equipment such as forklifts, electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, and scissor lifts.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, bending/twisting of neck and waist, squatting, and kneeling.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects from floor, conveyor, vehicle, table, or overhead location.
- Constant standing and walking (6-8+ hours per shift).
- Frequent lifting of 10-75 lbs. (1-8+ hours per shift).
Pay
Pay Range: USD $28.60 - USD $37.90 per hour.
